There is 1 extremely easy way to fix mages. Make them expendable. What does Ambroise mean?!
1. Automate and quicken the process of human to elemental. 2. When gickers cast their bodies are physically altered. Have a progress % chance that they get stuck like that for a time. 3. Do not store near and full elemental gickers.
These three things would put a limited lifespan on gickers. It limits the impact of their endgame magick content. It causes hardcoded things that make them scary and different. Once someone or if someone reaches full elemental they should be auto KOS by every NPC in the game. EVERY one. If they are gemmed they should begin to lose endurance every IG year until they die. Tek draining their magick or something. In addition, if someone reaches full elemental their powers should become erratic. Instead of doing the intended spell they could just randomly do some echo effect or something. You guys get the idea.

They should send the gemmed to Borsail to be 'fixed'.

Play in Tuluk? Your interaction with magicks will drop significantly. You might still encounter them if your character is adventurous, but most of the time the only reason you'll be "buddy buddy" with them, is because you dont want to turn into a piece of charcoal.
It seems a lot of people want to make the cake and eat it too.

For me it's mostly about the f-me mages. That seems wrong.
Well, then again. ..I think it's just f-me's.. no matter what the guild is, they make me want to go on a room clearing murder rampage.
Same with people using sneak while wearing high heels. That is some bullshit right there.
Don't mind me, I'm bitter.

I'm actually all for mages being otherwordly beautiful. In fact, mages, breeds, and nobility are the only ones whom in my opinion, have the right to be beautiful.
Then you have every right to slice at their faces until they dont look so smug.

You aren't surrounded by magick if you play in Tuluk. If you play in Allanak, there's 4 quarters of the city, and 1 of them, that is roughly 1/4th of the city, is dedicated to it. Expect magick. It's part of the terrain.
Taking magick out of the game world is ridiculous and would be a total break with literally ever major and many minor events on the Game World's timeline. You could as soon change the entire world to Lord of the Rings and still have Zalanthas as you could remove magick from it. Sorry, no.

Not all of them do. I've played a few in my time. I've never gotten beaten. I wish someone would have, frankly.

Because they are born beautifully stunning and then every beating takes them down a notch. Normally, to reach the ugly stage, a breed needs to be beaten for at least thirty played days with a pauses of about an hour, depending on wisdom.
Absolutely Amazing Beautifully Stunning Jaw-droping wondrous Beautiful Extremely pretty Very pretty Pretty Very cute cute Normal Slightly Ugly. Ugly Very Ugly.

Although my nose is wonderfully clear lately from all the carbonated rinses it's been getting.

So, if you want to be rid of mages, suggest something else to bring variety into the game in their place. For example, the notion of a "cavalier" class. Not in the sense of riding horses or paladin-like, but belonging to a society that subscribes to strict notions of honor and conduct. They could be tough bastards, but balanced by never being allowed to flee a fight due to honor (triumph or die). Or some variant of the "monk" class, tied to a particular race. They aren't allowed weapons, but they can perform some impressive feats of willpower and physical valor. Things like that. No. Play in Tuluk? Your interaction with magicks will drop significantly. If you don't like traffic, you should just live on the moon. One shouldn't have to play in the most non-Zalanthan part of the game in order to have an experience in line with the documentation. You aren't surrounded by magick if you play in Tuluk. If you play in Allanak, there's 4 quarters of the city, and 1 of them, that is roughly 1/4th of the city, is dedicated to it. Expect magick. It's part of the terrain. On "play in Tuluk": See above. Magick is a part of the terrain in Allanak and the south in general, I agree. It's a city ruled by a sorcerer king who's minions are also using sorcery by proxy; it is an inevitability to have some exposure in that kind of environment. That in no way justifies the situations that are cropping up on an entirely too regular basis, situations that are a complete throw in the face of the documentation. A crude but effective solution is to use the code to limit the availability of magick; elemental guilds being closed or capped is a good first step and a firm message to the players as a whole that regularly coloring outside the lines has now brought about consequences. We don't need to remove magick from the game world, just from the hands of players who refuse to adhere to the central themes of the game.

A city ruled by two black robes after the sorcerer king was killed by his father? Something like that?
