Shalooonsh was overseeing Delves at that time. That's basically really the only thing. If you simply track the clans that Loonsh was part of across let's say 6 years. You will notice that eventually, once the clan acquired a good enough leader, awesome stuff happened. Before Shalooonsh, I believe Niamh was overseeing Delves. And very little happened.

Two reasons I succeeded:
1) I'm a good, but not great, player. I'd call myself serviceable, but everyone has their moments I suppose.
2) Shalooonsh
It wasn't because I was a favorite. Hell, you could have seen my pnotes and made that distinction yourself anaiah. I wasn't generally liked by staff. Most were indifferent, but others despised me for things I'd been apart of or been accused of masterminding when I was just out of high school. Having read my pnotes, I for one should know staff hold grudges.
If it had been any staff member OTHER than Shalooonsh or maybe Calavera, I would have been denied. Of that much I'm certain.
Flint Sky was 2008-2009, perhaps January 2010. I forget.

I had my mount sneeze on me before when Niamh staffed SLK. That's all I remember.

That all happened before I got to join staff. Yeah, Shalooonsh was the best. He writes up a ton of shit, and when he was over the desert elves, I got my first newbie pc ranger in 2008 stuck in the pit in the tablelands and he had or helped, I think, or watched (there was a note showing he was seeing it, at the least) when the D-elves all came and helped them get out of the pit, shooting her and her daughter with arrows while the daughter was dying of thirst. Sounds like it was possibly during the same time frame. I'm not talking about that far back, and Shalooonsh was able to get a lot done that a lot of other ST's were not. He was an admin in all but name, and no one would give him the actual title because he actually negative account noted the girlfriend of one of the producers for hellatwinking, in fact, if I recall right, that was part of why he left eventually, though I could be mistaken. I'm not saying that anyone sucks, lulz. I'm saying that the experiences you are referring to are not typical of the experience of playing in the Pah since Shalooonsh left. That's it, and that's all.

I loved Shalooonsh as a player and staff member, but if we're going to be honest about things, Shalooonsh also wanted to return to staffing yet be allowed to continue playing his merchant elf up in Tuluk. I forget the elf's name, cool pc, but this flew in the face of the rules and he knew it.
Also, Shalooonsh was known to at times stretch the limits of what immortals can and should not do.
Before White Rantarri and Bones became bedfellows and Bones started changing into a rantarri (partially), Shalooonsh was actually going to kill me. I remember our mage group smashing Kija and the ATV elves after they all tried to take me out first with arrows. Down swept Shalooonsh with White Rantarri to slaughter Bones in the Pah. Like a douche, I fled out of instinct after he bit my head before wishing up that I was sorry. I proceeded to sit down and allow White Rantarri to return and finish the job, but surprisingly, he...spat half of my head out and let my regenerative capabilities hold what was left of my body together.
Later on, a staff member told me he believed Shalooonsh may have been told to back off.
If we think about it, he was essentially using a plot device to take out a player. I was never staff, but I figure that would have been a bit of a no-no. You can confirm whether that's the case though, anaiah.

So PKed a bunch of people like I pointed out. So the staff allowed you to make changes through hard work. They animated NPCs specifically for you. I think a lot of people wish the staff would treat them so "poorly".

I did so much more than just PK a bunch of people, though of course I did PK people who were stupid enough not to offer or refused to give tribute. As I said, Shalooonsh was the only staff member to support Sky during his run. There was no one else to my knowledge. Other than Flint Sky, I can't think of a single instance where I as account vlad was supported by staff. Well, if you count Bones, though he was only part of the end plot and was just one piece to the puzzle.

What did Flint Sky do that other people haven't done? Shot and killed a mage out of the air. Shot a rider off his mount and dropped him dead with two arrows at the Allanaki gates in front of a squad of pc goons and a templar. I'll never forget the context of the message: so and so falls off his mount onto the ground and lies still, or something to that effect. Ran INTO a wezer dome to save his running mate, Cut Rock. I took on wezer three or more at a time with the awareness Sky would likely not survive the scene. He did, without a scratch. I ran and built up a Sama I called the Blood Feathers. We were boss. I wrote the double bladed, feather tassled spear you see in game now, along with one or two of the tattoos in camp now, if I'm not mistaken. Those Sun Runners in SLK camp? Yeah, that's because of Sky. I built the corral in BW practically single handedly after HD abandoned the plot and tribe like he was known to do in the past when busy or flatout bored. I don't think there were any veli at that time for him to take to the mats, unfortunately. I masterminded a trade to receive infant babes from SR to bolster the numbers of SLK. I oversaw strengthening ties between Kurac and SLK before Lusts for Blood fucked all that up. (she was and still is a great player IMO) I shot an elkrosian dashing towards me deader than a doornail in the Pah. One of the craziest things Sky had the balls to do, minus leaping headlong into the wezer dome. I once cleared out a pit of Bynners that had fallen into a chasm in the Pah. It was at least three to four pcs; I remember drinking the tears of a player I won't name as she complained over Aim about her beloved barefoot dwarf. I was in the process of having a belt designed (before force stored) for Sky covered in the skulls of fallen foes. The eye sockets were filled with Sky's best kills, mage gems representing each element. Two eye sockets were reserved for diamonds to represent to two sorcerors I had killed. I led the counter offensive against the Dune Stalkers and survived their attack on SLK camp in the middle of the night. The following morning, Sky and his sama gathered the corpses (literally too many to count) into a massive pile and burned it to ash. That story I wrote about this? It actually happened. I aided Bil the Braxat in freeing the shattered wastelands of Dragonsthrall. The SR shortly returned to reclaim their old home. I struggled for half a RL year (often times by myself) digging a seemingly endless tunnel under the spire in the Pah, spearheading efforts to bring down the tower of love and rid the Pah of magickal vermin, if at least for a time. The tower is now a pile of rubble. I've lost count of the shit Sky did throughout the course of his life. I wouldn't call it solely luck, so much as a mixture of grit, brass balls and a willingness to ice a motherfucker for the slightest err. I suppose I'll counter with this: what the fuck have you done lately? SOOOO, you codedly beat people and mobs up and had IMM help? That's what you're saying. You won.!!!!

Heh. Still think I'm myopic?
I can appreciate what Flint Sky was able to do, but I maintain that a few good players does not a good tribe make. (For the record I'd rather see world changes coming from a hard-ass killer using force than a silky pin-cushion putting months of flowery emotes in between festivals, any day of the week.)
Still, I'd love to steer this convo back to the topic, which is: Desert Elves. I'd like to hear some more about some other tribes, specifically Dune Stalkers. Who's got the goods on those guys, cause they closed down, frankly, before I was a good enough player to appreciate them. Never got a chance to play one or experience the tribe.

First thing to note: Shalooonsh was an incredible staffer and really nice person. Gave me many opportunities as a desert elf, and even checked on me as a player due to my health issues. My last character under him was a young Sun Runner who was an unawakened Whiran. When he did awaken, Loon orchestrated an entire scene in which I pretty much vomited up hurricane force winds. The Runners got their bows to kill me, but Whira itself saved my PC. That kinda stuff ended when older guard people like him left, at least for those of us not in favor with the current folks. Anyway. Dune Stalkers. I had one for a while, and I'm afraid my memory on them is a bit hazy as this was years ago. They were cool with Drovians. Each had a dagger (I think this was them) which was significant to that Stalker. Sort of like a spirit weapon. It wasn't intended for combat, as I recall, and it was highly problematic if it was taken. They were an interesting bunch, but like most interesting bunches, they were consumed by the "chosen" clans during the slow march of consolidation.
