Also shortly after that group's time was when the staff tightened up on Byn recruiting.
We all had such a good time ourselves and such a good time with others that they started artificially capping the Byn.

So how about you just let me submit my item, not fuck with its sdesc, because that's why I'm playing a character who can basically die at almost any moment... To make cool shit. That will make OTHER players happy. My merchant isn't making a camouflage dildo to fuck his own ass, he's making it so the Bynners will have something COOL that someone made for THEM that doesn't suck because a staff member changed every effing word of the sdesc.... exactly. theyre paying for his words, not urs u moronic overtards. id downprice the craft to 10% just to make it clear how much their editing is worth

I think they didn't like the fact that Harar and Koman Locke were talking about making our own mercenary company and trying to pull in characters like Armali and some other badasses at the time, like Rolan and Bahk, so they stalled what would have been the first piece of the uniform as hard as they fucking could to prevent it from ever taking off. They also turned us down down for a warehouse while we were Bynners, and when Harar left the Byn, they ignored my warehouse request until he died, then almost immediately released the new guidelines for warehouse rentals. ? As I said in another thread, this is staff's go-to response for dealing with requests they don't like, despite the fact that they are eminently reasonable. They stall as long as they can in the hopes that the person organizing it dies first. They did it for the would-be salarr outpost too. Despite like 2 years of gathering materials, and far exceeding every quota they ever suggested to us as being needed.

I just HAD to respond to this fucking gem:
'What was Elrum's big flaw? What got him banished?'
"This implies that Elrum has a big flaw or that he has done something in order to get banished. What could it be?"
No it doesn't you balding fuck, it merely points to the fact that he asked you a question. How obtuse and myopic can you possibly be?
Nyr's ability to twist words isn't even genius; it's honestly amateurish, but existing players and staff seem fit to let him speak to people like this.

Exactly, lulz. That greatest hit from joffnyr is what everyone should keep in mind when they read talia on the gdb lecturing players that the imms are always communicatig and working in good faith. thats some awesome good faith from joffnyr on display there.

I took this from the psionicist thread and put it here to try to avoid derailing that thread. I get not wanting 8 karma characters to have safe targets for practicing skills, as a game balance concept. But throwing players into the mix without giving them a list of guidelines (we get suspicious when you go after NPCs please report who you locate and why) or just straight up not coding successful psion stuff on NPCs as eligible for skill-up is dumb. There's an overarching attitude I think players feel but can't quite put their fingers on and it's the attitude that if a player is viewed under the constant assumption that they're trying to twink out or abuse things. I mentioned to a staff friend of mine in early 2000s about wanting to retire a merchant character of mine because I just wasn't enjoying it and thought the pbase was shitty overall because I only logged a few hours a week. They mentioned it to Sanvean or on immchat offhandedly and I got an e-mail from her accusing me of trying to store my character to avoid an assassination plot against me that I had no idea about. Now keep in mind I never put in a request or anything, it was just idle thoughts I mused about. After I told her I had no idea what she was talking about I got back an e-mail apologizing but mentioning how uncool it would be for me to store without wrapping things up. Again, I never put in an e-mail for storage so it was more shocking over how accusatory it had been. Do I think every situation has people put under the thumb for abuse by all staff they interact with? No, but when it happens out of the blue like that it takes away in my trust of staff. To actually add onto that and preemptively counterpoint 'well that happened so long ago things are different', here's a recent Nyrism: gdb.armageddon.org/index.php/topic,31255.msg859202.html#msg859202 that applies both ways. not accusing me out of the blue for twinking or abusing isn't "evidence of showing a great deal of growth". Mirrors are cool. For example, turn this message around in a mirror and it's the same message others are sending out. "Hey dude, when you treat people poorly, don't expect them to respect you back." When one's behavior doesn't change, what reason do others have to continue to believe you? For those that don't look at themselves in the mirror may have difficulty seeing this. I don't think he's seeing the forest for the trees. What do people think Nyr thinks the problem is? If one "puts that in a mirror" and turns it around, is the same also true of Nyr/Staff?

Nyr's problem insofar as I can tell is that he approaches situations from a negative presumption. When I played Elrum I was playing ARM like 8 hours a day because I was sitting at my computer watching the financial markets 8+ hours a day and ARM was my controlled distraction to curb the impulse to always be in a trade. That. Is. Alot. Of. Arm. Sometimes my reports would be missing things because a lot happens when you're clocking 8hour days IG. Nyr always presumed I was hiding or lying or trying to mislead staff. At least that is the vibe I got from him saying outright you're hiding, lying, and misleading staff. TLDR - Nyr assumes harmful/deceitful intent whenever a situation arises where the facts are not clear. This leads to negative interactions. so apparntly nyr has absolutely no idea about cty elves. But he definitely has opnions he's not afraid to share... gdb.armageddon.org/index.php/topic,48797.msg867560.html#msg867560 why should the staff fix what the staff broke? BE THE CHANGE Ths sounds really familiar. but i remember it happening a long time ago. may have pre-dated nyr so he gets a pass. city elves are both of those things. Or at least that's what the docs say. can't account for staff fuckery. city Elves doc: city Elves roleplaying doc: but hey, no. elves are totally not trbal or good runners. because nyr. He can't be entirely ignorant of 2 decades old world building decsions, because that would make what he said objectively stupid. obviously that didn't just happen. And who even reads that docs with their 34 references to elvn tribalism? do you really need a city elf roleplay doc to tell you about city elf roleplay? Clearly nyr is right. Yes. theyre crtainly not now. at least not city elves.

i hear about all these ongoing projects yet the only fruits of them i've seen are the outlined plan for people to be able to make a house and whatever coded things Morgenes implements or if Nessalin makes a new useless function instead of addressing broken systems (BREW)

I think one reason the staff doesn't want to share their plans is that they've figured out that people complain when they see this pattern from staff (which is often):
We're going to be doing X very soon!
...
...
...
X has been postponed.
...
...
...
X has been cancelled. X will not be implemented for the foreseeable future.
