fourty to fifty waterskins to see relationship to the land change in score. larger container not beneficial. Sounds about right. Took that long for Zul to get his relationship to 'good'.

The donate thing must be fairly recent. It wasn't more than like six years ago that I murdered a Guild underboss and looted a magic ring from him which gave endurance as a permanent worn bonus. Wore it under my gloves and some asshole Jihaean saw it with peek and confiscated it, which was just pathetic.
There was also a time when anyone could 'gather'. That was a long time ago, though.

Those were permanent at the time, too. Half the rinth assassins had those shadow daggers while Quick and Gin ran the show.

oldtwink she said magick weapons and shields, not armor The rings aren't armor, they're enchanted rings using the krathi empower spell if they're the same as the rings in game now.

I think sometimes, the rarity and obscurity of the word plays a role in an sdesc. If the NPC is part of a room that is supposed to scream "refinement", a fancy word is fitting. A fancy word on a noble pc is also fitting, in my opinion. It has an underlining meaning to it. Problem comes when half the frigging city is fancy. Then it goes real bad.
I swear to god, whenever my southerner Bynners end up in Tuluk, they get twice as cruder and coarser as they normally are in Allanak. Simply to contrast the fanciness of Tuluk general populace.

Just like anyone can learn sorcery, anyone can learn to gather. It's a skill much like ride and pilot. If one attempts to gather, they'll get the skill (I accidently did this once on one of my characters). The problem is that for non-sorcerer characters, learning "true magick" (sorcery, life plane magick) requires a staff member to manually and each spell to a characters skill list (unless they have one of the sorcerer extended subguilds). One can only gather mana if their mana pool is depleted. This makes gathering for most mundane guilds impossible.
Most sorcerers begin as preserves because defiling is harder to hide due to the large ammount of ash created. When a sorcerer becomes more powerful and less concerened about "mere mortals", the power that defiling offers becomes more and more attractive.

..stuff (unless they have one of the sorcerer extended subguilds). other stuff... Are these extended subguilds even playable? I thought that staff were only allowing the "mundane" ones at this time. (Man, if some of you thought the current common extended guilds were "game breaking", wait until the ethereal assassins hit the scene...)

I've asked staff about this and their response is that, no, they aren't available for general applicants. I suspect they never will be, but may be available through normal special apps. As far as "game breaking"... this is probably why they aren't available like the normal extended subguilds. A ranger or warrior with the path of enchantment (or any of the others) subguild would be terrifying.

A machine of war straight out of nowhere.

* Anything out of nowhere will rock your socks off they catch you with your pants down. I've known Drovians to straight up murder Sorcerers with ten minutes of preparation and ethereal. Hell, X-D could probably conquer half the known with a merchant/Movement Magicker.
