Having already played one before I can safely say these guys start semi shitty but get downright dangerous once they branch.
Specially Poison and Harm (read Health Drain the first list is correct) HD you say? Yes HD. It's basically a magic Kick with a bit more oomph and a small health regen (which may or may nit be something as low as 5%-10% damage done) Granted not a powerful offensive attack but add Poison to tick health even faster. Add in all your regen shit and it actually does something in there for you. At least more then Thunder ever will.
(i got this from a picture I still had like a year ago. So its fairly recent)
Or have a friend Ranger or Assassin and envenom their arrows/trowing weapons/daggers for backstab.
Calm can be used in creative ways. Assassin Backstabs. You Calm. Assassin stealthes out and right back in into another backstab.
If in a mild climate Sul or Mon Intoxication usually leaves them unconscious for more then five minutes. Bash their heads in with dual shield/punches or have a friend crush their skull or just Venom them.
If its another Gicker Silence is a boon since it pretty much screws the Gicker.
And Invulnerability + Sanctuary + Regen Hp items + Heal makes for a class difficult to take down so long as you know what you are doing.
This class shines with other Gickers such as Whirans. Make a trapped room with Wall of Thorns have Whiran portal someone over. Hilarity ensues.
Deafen is one I never did figure its use...

When I played a vivaduan I don't remember being able to poison a projectile, only an animal/player character. Was this changed?

It's been around for a very long time. Maybe even before water shields, though I may be off on that. In fact, if I recall correctly, you're even able to poison blunt or large objects. Though this part I can be absolutely wrong on. I loved playing Vivs. But I havent in a decade now.

That's good to know. Yeah, hadn't played a vivaduan in shit, maybe going on over a decade now.
Last one I played was circa 2002/03.

Edit: Harm is actually titled Health Drain. I never did pay attention to this shit and went over the first list again from a picture of like a year ago so its fairly recent. I will have to run another Water Gicker and test this all over again *sigh*
Edit
Ah the power of AIM. And having friends in high places.
Four casts Sul Levels. Spell at Mon. -33 -44 -48 -20
Avg 36.50
Yeah sure you roll might suck but for the most part this shit hits harder than a Kick. And the whole idea is to use it to let Venom tick your health quickly rather than wait on it from full health.
So a combo would be Poison, Harm, Harm, Calm or if Gicker Silence, Poison, Harm, Calm.
Also Normal Lightning is similar in damage XX-YY as Harm (HD)
I'll run a Water Gicker at some point again after my current Mundane.

doesn't their silence just mean this class wins any encounters with another spellcaster, assuming they cast first?

Any Rukkian/Krathi who knows what's up will butcher them effortlessly, spells or not. Drovians/whirans/elkrans can just bug out or never let the fight happen inthe first place.

I once killed a rogue viv by triggering his invuln in front of Tuluki gate guards. I shot him with an arrow from a couple rooms away. Afterwards, staff animated a guard to question me as to how I knew that would happen. Although, they might already have been animating, talking to him when it happened. I stealthed/followed the gicker all night, and caught up to him at the gaur pandu gate, in the morning. He was a breed.
I assumed he was a viv based on the magical mounts I'd been seeing left around the grasslands.
I honestly hadn't known the guards would insta-attack him. I was just miffed at him getting away and was sending a parting shot as he passed through the gates to evident safety.
