Any good stories of the 40 active kadius member days? That sounds wild.
Kadius is a merchant clan, so most of the day to day was mundane to players that have a faster pace. At one point, my character was the only one ghosting around the southern craft hall, because Siamaca's crew was primarily Northern, and the southern traders had both died. I didn't start getting my feet under me crew-wise for a while.
I guess some highlights were:
Terson ran a story where the hunters were attempting to dig for metal.
We became self-sufficient (for the most part), and were able to escort ourselves rather than hire the Bynn. We also didn't believe in forcing our hunters to stay in the walls, and compensated them similar to our crafters, because I was sick of Kadians being poor and not being able to buy a simple beer at the bar.
Our crafting crew put our heads together to make Bloodball a thing, and got Borsail to sponsor it.
We explored a deadly haunted house and survived! The skull candles set got yoinked by Aida, and since she was a templar's aide, I didn't (couldn't) force her to hand it over. We still got some nice things, I think. I was a touch vexxed her character did that when they had been invited along to share in the storyline, but we got the recipes eventually.
We built a hunter barracks, stable, and a firepit in the compound (so we could work clay). The second was because we well exceeded sales quotas every year, and the third, we gathered and built by hand. I mentioned elsewhere that the people that helped were supposed to have something like a personal signifier impressed into the mud, but it didn't happen. I was going to write their actual names on a plaque since their contribution had been edited, but didn't get around to it before I stored.
I drove a wagon off a cliff... and we gathered a shopping list of materials to builld a new one, building relations with external hunting crews in the process.
We gathered dirt and other materials from the north to splice a hybrid species of flower, and my character was in the middle of trying to transplant northern fruits to the south so that we could harvest them for wine. The hybrid flower glowed purple, and was used to create an expensive Kadian item. I haggled with a Nenyuki NPC and got it added to the Atrium menu.
We actively participated in the Senate Saga that ended in the lightshow - Basically, our compound was occupied, and we had to collectively work through that while I handled the political bits.
The merchant clans got into a scrap over resources in an ankheg cave (and all the silliness from that).
We were trying to clear the road into Tuluk, at one point but nothing came of that.
Kadius and Salarr built sculptures outside of each other's compounds to tease one another, and had a close alliance with both hunting crews working together to bring down rare prey. One such trophy we sold to Borsail in exchange for a favor.
I forget why the city was on fire that one time, but... it was on fire and the hunters assisted and made sure the crafters were safe.
Manny ended up having our crews hunt bigger and more dangerous game, and we had 3-5 half-giants for muscle ... and let me tell you, keeping a crew with 5 half-giants hydrated was a struggle for a tiny bit until we worked out the kinks. Eventually we got told to stop these fun expeditions because we were supposed to be a merchant clan...
Kurac and Kadius got into it and we were considering taking over a new route to Tuluk in order to circumvent them and cut off their business. I had backing from nobles in the city, and it was surreal because it felt like I was leading an army, with more people pledging support - Part of why I was so annoyed at the argosy axle breaking when we were 4 rooms from the main road. We had been building up to a pretty epic thing, and I ended up losing valuable hunters because, I don't even know why. I wasn't allowed to rebuild my crew, either.
We were having a bit of a cold war with Terash, because they were taking our business by sequestering the nobles and not allowing us entry to the school so we could wheel and deal. It was taken care of. It was funny because JUST as the Terashi leader's body hit the ground, Shalooonsh's character ran in. I didn't get why he instantly and literally ran into the room at the time, but now I kinda do. Which... Really?
Our crew of crafters built a whole statue that I heard the Fale were honoring for a bit. They also made lots of very nice and practical items.
Maristen damned proc'ed the Charge skill off riding. I didn't know full merchants could do that, but it was pretty sweet, even if I my hunters refused to let me test it out, heh.
Macian made the first cooling pot in the game! Our hunters also made crafts, toward the end.
I partnered with Salarr to make the hunters proper gear, rather than use scrap armor. It was super effective! We didn't quite finish the set, though.
There was some kind of event with a radioactive meteor toward the end, but I wasn't personally interested, so I don't know what came of it. There was something else I was trying to steer us toward, and it seemed to have little pay off for the danger presented to the crew.
There was much more, but a lot of it focuses on my character, and you asked about the clan. Long bits short:
My character didn't much enjoy us being "Fabulous" and wanted the crew to think of themselves as "Strong", and that was what I think we all did! I was inexperienced, but the folks playing really didn't let us get pushed around. In turn, my character did his best to smooth over political issues if possible, or make the problems dead if I couldn't. Our hunters trained with and on our crafters, and we let our skills synergize to get results. We got some hunter vets in there that made everything go very smoothly, and they almost pampered the crafters and never let them run out of skins or of things to skin. It really was fun playing with everyone, telling stories and singing in the compound. If I miss anything, I miss my favorite players.
I was kinda picky with who I recuited, because I wanted people to actually craft for us and not simply grind their skills and leave. I got scolded once for not promoting someone to crafter, but my rule was that if someone wanted to be a crafter, they had to get a mastercraft done for review.. because I needed people to do that! It was weird to me that the GMs were fighting me so much at the end about stuff, honestly, but oh well. I had pretty much gained so much influence that even though my character was denied a proper promotion at the end, if all was fair (as in the staff not onstantly being on my figurative dick) , my character would have been on the track to toppling Joyner and taking his job if he didn't hurry and vacate upward. It was on my mind, even if such a thing would have ended in storage if I succeeded. Maristen may not have been as well known in people's minds as characters like Tasok, but he was getting savvy and deadly toward the end. And that's pretty damned sweet as an achievement.
