Is it possible for an assassin to raise a weapon skill only by using it in the off hand? No. You can only raise weapon skills w/weps in your primary hand. At least, that's been my experience. A nice example of obscurity causing annoyance rather than "mystery." "Find out IC."

I have a Dwield question. Does the attack from the offhand use only the dwield skill with penalties to hit and damage or does it also use the weapon skill? Is it possible for an assassin to raise a weapon skill only by using it in the off hand? It's easy to think about it like this Dual-wield becomes the weaponskill for anything in your off-hand. Got a trident in your off hand? It's actually dual-wield. It will raise the dual-wield skill on failures. You won't train any weaponskill with the thing in your off-hand. DW comes with an inherit penalty to hit and damage, and a bonus to parry. The penalty is only to the off-hand. It "feels" like a DW is about a weaponskill -10% in terms of effectiveness, but I don't know the actual values.

If you ep your shield and hold your weapon in your secondary hand, does it build both shield use and dual wield, but not your weapon skill?

It's no biggie. I don't think I started to learn about the code until around 5 or more years into my time on Arm, so at least you've got that going for you.
