Or staff could set up a notification system that collects a list of accounts that have X amount of karma but haven't gained karma in Y amount of time, then review them and grant karma as appropriate. Y'know, do their job of making the game a pleasant thing to play.
Player priorities are so funny. I could care less about this change.
I feel mostly the same. Oh, some other high-karma gick can spy on me or hurt me in some way? *SNORE*.
I would genuinely be much more excited to see a new city on the other side of the Silt Sea, or a thousand more rooms added east of the Grasslands, or something like that. Something accessible to the entire playerbase.
In terms of code, this was probably just removing the comment indicators around some old code or a cut-and-paste into a new subguild template. Really don't mind some high fantasy magic spilling back into my low fantasy world, but I'd like to see something new maybe.
Staff has confirmed new areas are in the works. There are also a few bits and pieces around the south that are new-ish if you look for them. I too would be more excited by a new city than drovians but hey it's worth talking about
I think the world in general could use some "livening" up. I've posted this before; more random ruins/outposts/oases for people to rest at it. Or fight over?
Deeper ruins that can be explored in mundane fashion. With ... I dunno ... the occasional possible reward for doing it.
I've found a number of ruins in the game now ... one killed me with some sort of magic fog. Another spawned giant spiders on me. Another I just flat out died for no apparent reason. Just boom. Dead. Heart attack? WTF.
The game world is so potentially interesting. It's just not exploited very deeply.
sneazy: Started playing with ArmSolo again. Mapping the zones against newer maps and chasm area mostly looks good. If anyone else is using it, I will make a thread and post results. Else, I'll keep doing my own thang.

mehtastic: Hi everyone. Back for a bit to catch up on how things have been and talk about Arm with a less angry and more mellow voice. Hope y'all have been doing well.

delerak: gonna hijack your thread to start a fight..

mehtastic: Haha. We actually agree more than we disagree, but I'm down to discuss the benefits and drawbacks of multiplaying in general.

thesandlady: Are the days of 250 unique logins a week long gone, or is there a chance Arm could get back to it's old numbers?
Jul 12, 2019 13:05:29 GMT -5
mehtastic: thesandlady I think those days are long gone at this point. People will say it's because MUDs in general are on the decline, but there are a few text based games that see slight growth. Arm's problems hold it back from player recruitment and retention.

delerak: arm can get the numbers back up. you need good leaders running clans for one which it seems arm is lacking right now.

mehtastic: Well, that's partly why I said Armageddon can't get back the 250+ weekly logins days that it used to have: because Armageddon lacks good leaders. I would argue that staff actively suppress leadership and don't give players ways to grow into such roles.
